We actually had to remove the first few steps of the staircase in order to properly put the subfloor in. This was the removal of those steps. Check the end of this post for the finished results
These steps had some very fancy cuts in order to create the curved pieces. A shame to destroy them but I really wish they were installed correctly in the first place.
This is “Crunchy” the mummified rat we found. He likely went under the steps and was stuck there once they finished them since they were completely sealed. I’d imagine the stink was terrible at the time.
